Collection: Musical Instruments
Sri Lanka has a rich musical heritage, deeply connected to its culture and traditions. Traditional musical instruments play a key role in religious rituals, festivals, and folk performances. Drums, or "beras," are the most prominent, including the Geta Bera, Yak Bera, and Dawula, each used for specific occasions. The Thammattama (a pair of twin drums) and Rabana (a large, single-faced drum) add rhythmic depth. Melodic instruments like the Horanawa (a type of oboe) and Ravanahatha (a string instrument) further enrich Sri Lanka’s music. These instruments continue to shape the island’s vibrant musical and cultural identity.
